Number #2 Church (eventually known as Little Flock) started with seven children, two adults, Brother and Sister A. Lee of Monterey, in the home of the Pastor and Missionary O’Neal, August 6, 1955. With the leading of the Lord, and the permission from Bishop E.B. Stewart, and Pastor H.C. Johnson, launched out to establish a mission for God.
On September 29, 1955, the first Sunday school session was held at 517 Warrington Ave, Redwood City, CA. Eventually holding their grand opening on November 6, 1955 at the Forester's Hall in Redwood City.
Unfortunately, this congregation was short lived, and a new ministry and new church was birthed under the leadership of Pastor and Missionary O’Neal. A $5.00 seed was donated by Sister Florene McMillan. With the collaborative effort of Pastor O’Neal, Brother J.L. Martin and Brother Edward Knight, and the divine work of God, the foundation was poured December 29, 1956. After laborious toiling, the Lord permitted Little Flock to march into their building on December 25, 1957 at 6.00 a.m. to hold their first service.
By 1965, Number #2 Church currently known as Little Flock-Church of God in Christ had a total of 66 boys and 66 girls under the age of 18. This did not include any of the parents, members, and neighborhood friends that joined the church.
In 1972, Little Flock had many functioning Auxiliaries including: Sunday School, Ever Ready Club, Sunshine Band, Purity, Men’s Chorale, Mission Choir, Sewing Circle, Usher Board, Inspirational Group, then Inspirational Choir, Young Women Christian Council, Mother’s Board, and Brother’s Board.
In 1980, Pastor O’Neal expanded his horizons and launched the effort of refurbishing the interior of the sanctuary The exterior was beautified due to a donation by Mr. & Mrs. Michael Genevro.
Pastor O’Neal retired in 2018 after 63 years of service.We will be forever grateful to Pastor and Mother O'Neal for their faith, love and guidance throughout their years of service.
Bishop Nathaniel Bullock appointed Elder Justin Genevro Elder in Charge, and Church Administrator in December 2018. On June 13, 2020, Elder Justin Genevro was elevated to Pastor of Little Flock Church of God in Christ. Currently Little Flock is still functioning at full capacity including Education Ministry Mission & Outreach, Black History Celebration, Music Department, Hospitality, Women’s Conference, Women & Men’s Department Ministries, and Women’s Chorus. After 66 Years of being established, Little Flock continues to live on through the future generations and will continue to live on through the history of our church.
